What highlights reveal about an account
Story highlights are the closest thing Instagram has to a curated homepage: they're the stories an account decided were worth keeping past 24 hours. For competitor and creator research that makes them unusually informative — brands pin their offers, FAQs, testimonials, and product launches there, and creators pin their best-performing series. Skimming a profile's highlight titles tells you what they want new visitors to see first, which is effectively their positioning in miniature.
Public data, honest limits
This viewer works within what Instagram exposes to logged-out visitors: public accounts only, and occasionally Instagram gates a profile's highlight shelf behind a login wall for a while. We surface what's available and tell you when it isn't, rather than pretending private content can be unlocked — it can't. If you need highlights programmatically (e.g. auditing hundreds of brand accounts), the Instagram Highlights API returns albums as JSON, and Highlights Details fetches the stories inside an album.

Can I view Instagram highlights without an account?+
Yes — for public accounts. This tool lists a public profile's highlight albums (titles, covers, and story counts) without you logging in or having an Instagram account at all. Private accounts are not accessible, by design.
Is viewing highlights anonymous?+
Yes. Highlights are permanent albums, not live stories — Instagram does not show 'seen by' lists on highlight views older than 24 hours anyway, and this tool reads public data server-side, so your identity is never involved.
Why do some accounts show no highlights?+
Either the account genuinely has none, the account is private, or Instagram is gating that profile's highlight shelf for logged-out viewers at the moment. Gating varies by account and time — trying again later often works.
Can I see the stories inside a highlight?+
This free tool lists the albums. Developers can fetch the individual stories inside an album (images, videos, timestamps) with the Instagram Highlights Details API endpoint.
Does this work for private accounts?+
No. Private account content is only visible to approved followers, and no legitimate tool can bypass that. Anything claiming otherwise is a scam — this tool works with public data only.
