A Nitter alternative for developers
If you used Nitter to pull public X (Twitter) data into your own code, Captapi gives you the same kind of data as JSON: a profile, a single tweet by URL, and the tweets X's public embed shows for an account. It is a developer API that needs a key, not a site for reading Twitter without an account.

Endpoints that cover this job
What Captapi does not do here
- No guaranteed latest-first timeline. user-tweets returns what X's public embed shows, which can lean toward popular posts. Do not use it to detect new tweets.
- No X keyword search endpoint.
- No replies thread, followers list, or RSS output.
- Protected accounts are not available.
Frequently asked questions
Is Captapi a Nitter replacement?+
For developers who used Nitter as a data source, partly. You can get a public profile, a single tweet by URL, and an account's public tweet window as JSON. Captapi does not offer keyword search, a latest-first timeline, or a reading interface.
Can I read Twitter without an account using Captapi?+
Not in a browser. Captapi is an HTTP API that needs an API key and returns JSON. If you want to browse X without logging in, Captapi is not built for that.
Does user-tweets return the newest tweets?+
Not reliably. It returns the tweets X's public embed shows for that account, up to about 100, and that window can favour popular posts. Do not use it to detect new tweets.
What does a call cost?+
Profile and tweet details are 1 credit each. User tweets is 2 credits. Pass cache=true to reuse a recent response; cache hits are free.
